A sauna can help you improve your overall health. A study done by the University Clinic Charité in Berlin shows that the sauna improves your immune system and stimulates and stabilizes circulation. Your body reacts violently to the heat of the sauna and the cold when you cool down, making antibodies.
Less suffering from colds
In Finland, aka the real sauna country, they did a study on health benefits of regular sauna bathing. The research at Rurku University followed for six months a group of people who enjoyed the sauna twice a week and group who did not. The group that was in the sauna twice a week had 30% less colds after just one month than people who never went to the sauna.
Glowing skin
Your body reacts to the heat of a sauna by cooling down hard: namely, you start to sweat. The high temperature causes your pores to open and blood vessels to dilate. In this way you not only get rid of moisture, but also excess sebum and other dirt.
Besides providing clean skin, it is also really healthy. This is because it strengthens the protective layer and hydrates the stratum corneum. The more often you take the sauna the more your skin will benefit. And as a result? Gorgeous skin.
You feel happier
We all recognize it, after a day in the sauna we always say. "We should do this more often. As you leave the sauna complex you feel all zen and happy. In our brains there is a specific group of neurons that are sensitive to heat. This group releases greater amounts of the happiness hormone serotonin when body temperature rises. Not surprisingly, after a visit to the sauna you feel so good about yourself!
