Hot tub firing

In Scandinavian countries, the hot tub is a real tradition. In these countries it is no more than normal to have a hot tub in your backyard. This authentic product is therefore becoming increasingly popular in the rest of Europe. And how wonderfully relaxing is that? Bathing in your own backyard, watching the setting sun or twinkling stars in the sky? We understand that you see this in more and more gardens. After all, it can be done year-round. A hot tub works traditionally by firing wood via an indoor or outdoor stove, and that in turn gives the whole thing a very special and enjoyable experience.

Hot tub firing the Swiss way

We always recommend firing the hot tub using the Swiss method. This ensures the fastest burning of the wood and the least amount of smoke. Swiss firing is also called reverse firing. You place several logs crosswise on top of each other. You start with the larger blocks and end with smaller ones. On top of the tower, you light the fire and make sure the water in the hot tub gets nice and warm.

With what type of wood do I fire the hot tub

When firing the hot tub, it is important that you fire with a lighter type of wood such as birch, beech and or alder. It is important that the wood is always dry and free of chemicals. If it is not, you will get a lot of smoke. When the hot tub is warm, you can keep it at temperature with oak wood. Just don't start firing this because it takes a lot longer for the water to warm up.

The operation of a hot tub heater

When you fire a hot tub, there is no electricity involved. Heating the water is done through natural circulation. The heater is always connected to the hot tub by two hoses.

The hot tub heater consists of two parts. A compartment where you start a fire and a part connected to the hot tub that holds water. By starting a fire, the water in the stove heats up and goes back into the hot tub through the upper hose. All through natural circulation as heat naturally migrates upward.
