What types of external hot tub heaters are there?

There are several external hot tub heaters. An external hot tub heater, as the name suggests, is always outside the hot tub. If you then look at the types and differences you will see this in the materials and also in the models. For example, you have external hot tub heaters that stand on the ground, but also those that are attached and suspended to the hot tub. In terms of material, you see mostly external hot tub heaters made of aluminum, stainless steel 304 and or stainless 316.

External heaters are ideal for those who want to combine efficiency and aesthetics, as they are placed outside the hot tub, keeping the interior spacious and free for relaxation. At Welvaere you will find three different hot tub heaters that ensure that the water in the hot tub becomes wonderfully warm. The Welstove Medium, Welstove Large and the Welstove Pro. All three are beautiful and user-friendly hot tub heaters. We give you the opportunity to choose the heater you like best or the one that fits your budget.

Cost of an external hot tub heater

The cost of a hot tub with an external heater varies depending on the material and type of heater. At Welvaere , we offer external hot tub heaters made of SS 304 and SS 316. In addition, aluminum external heaters are also available, which tend to be more economical than stainless steel 316 heaters, which are known for their superior quality.

At Welvaere we start with the basic stove, the Welstove Medium, for which there is no additional charge. From this model, you can upgrade to the Welstove Large or the Welstove Pro. The latter is the most expensive option in terms of price, but it also offers more aesthetic value. For specific pricing information on upgrades, simply request a quote.

How long does it take for a hot tub to warm up with an external heater?

The heating time of a hot tub is affected by several elements, including the size of the Ducktub, the insulation present, the efficiency of the external hot tub heater, the outside temperature and the type of wood used for firing. When you heat the hot tub with an external stove, heating takes about 2 hours. Our smallest hot tub holds about 800 liters and the largest about 1700 liters. With the latter external stove hot tub, it takes about three hours for the water to be wonderfully warm.

How hot does the external heater of a hot tub get?

The external hot tub heater does not get hot itself. This is due to its unique two-compartment design. The inner one where the fire burns and an enclosing compartment filled with water. This ensures that the outside of the stove stays cool while the water is heated efficiently. The external hot tub heater heats the water to an average of 38 to 40 degrees Celsius. Depending on how intensely you fire, the temperature can go higher, as the stove does not have a fixed temperature setting, which means the water can get warmer.

Benefits of an external hot tub heater

  • External hot tub heaters reduce the risk of accidents because the hot heater is located outside the hot tub.
  • An external heater usually heats the water faster than internal models.
  • Because the stove is external, it is more accessible for maintenance and cleaning.
  • Without a heater taking up space inside the hot tub, users can enjoy more space and comfort while bathing.

Can an external heater also be used for a built-in hot tub?

Yes, an external heater is fine for use with a built-in hot tub. It is important to consider positioning. If the hot tub and heater are not positioned at the same height, the natural water circulation necessary for heating may be impeded. In such a case, it is necessary to install a circulation pump between the hot tub and the external heater to ensure effective heating. Although we do not offer specific built-in models, our hot tubs are often fully or partially integrated into a patio by our customers.
