Relaxation in the Ducktub by Dee and Lars

After spending a lot of time renovating their dream home, Dee and her boyfriend Lars got a wood-fired Ducktub in 2021, so they could enjoy their beautiful garden. We spoke to Dee about her favorite moment, what you can't do without, and she gives you a tip if you're also considering buying a hot tub.

Jan. 29, 2021: the day the hot tub came!

Excited she started the day and tells how they ended up at Welvaere (also nice is that you can watch their visit to the showroom back). Then it was time for the placement and installation of the hot tub with a detailed explanation of how to use it. 

When we were gone again, Lars started stoking. After 1.5 hours it was 30 degrees and it did not take long for them to relax. When they went in for the first time in the evening it was just a bit too warm but they could start relaxing. The next day it was still nice and warm and they only had to heat it a little more.

Lovely bathing in the garden

Dee and Lars both love water, so the Ducktub was the perfect addition to their garden. "There wasn't room in the garden for a swimming pool, and a hot tub was a good substitute. It doesn't take up too much space, but you can still enjoy a nice soak in it. This model, the Ducktub , is not too big for us, but not too small either. It's actually perfect. We can enjoy it with friends, but it doesn't take up an impossible amount of space in the garden."

Drinks in the hot tub

"When we just got the hot tub, we used it once a month and then usually for a whole week. A glass of wine was not to be missed when we went in it. We would make a whole evening of it. We also had a bath board for over the hot tub, which was then filled with snacks. It was a real moment. We would have drinks, but in the hot tub. Then we sat in it for up to three hours."

"A friend of mine also really liked going in the hot tub and it was our hobby to go in it as much as possible. But also at parties we turned it on so everyone could enjoy going in. Also fun was for example when we watched the European Championship from the hot tub"

Favorite moment: when the contrast is nice and big

The colder it is, the more Dee enjoys going in it. "So winter and fall are my favorite seasons to go in. Then the contrast is so nice. When it's cold outside and then nice and warm in the bathtub, that's really great."

Nice and zen

Of course, we know better than anyone how relaxed you become from the hot tub; Dee, too, has noticed those effects of the warm water. "It really relaxes me to go in the hot tub. I'm always nice and zen afterwards." Dee and Lars' little daughter also loves swimming and enjoys being in the warm water in the hot tub. 

The perfect spot in the garden

Dee is moving, but the hot tub had a nice spot at their old house. "The hot tub was at our old house in a corner next to the olive tree. We had also hung Christmas lights in there so that was super cozy. It was a really good spot because it wasn't pontifically in the garden, but it was very cozy."

Swapped for an electric hot tub

After a while, Dee and Lars realized that they weren't using the hot tub very much. In hindsight, a wood-burning stove wasn't that convenient for them. Burning wood wasn't going very well, and the neighbors didn't like the smell of wood either. "Fortunately, we were able to replace the Ducktub with a fully electric one Ducktub November 2022. This way, we can still relax in the Ducktub, the neighbors aren't bothered by wood smoke, and it's always warm."

*Are your neighbors also bothered by the smell of smoke or are you afraid of this? Soon we will have a wood smoke filter. This filter removes to a very large extent the smell, smoke and particulate matter.

Tip from Dee

"I would always go for a filtration system. We didn't have one before and now we do. The water lasts much longer then, of course. We had to change the water quickly every time before because without a filter system the water gets dirty quickly."
