Ducktub hot tub in Marianne & Mike's garden

#withwelvaere gives you a peek into the wellness paradises of Welvaere's clients. This time I spoke with Marianne from Pijnacker. She lives there with her partner Mike and since June 2020 they have been enjoying the Ducktub Bjorn in the garden. Marianne talks about her experience, favorite moments and garden style. After reading her story, you too will want a decking that conceals a hot tub!

Perfect for atmosphere and relaxation

When Marianne and her partner Mike, who has his own landscaping business, were working on their own garden last year, they came up with the idea of purchasing a hot tub. Marianne: "We went to the Experience Center in Nijkerk on Easter Monday and were super helped by Kevin. We sat in a hot tub for a while, got more information and then bought one right away. We are very satisfied with it. In terms of atmosphere it fits our garden very nicely and it is also great for relaxing."

Recovering in the hot tub every weekend from a busy work week

Except for a few weeks when they were remodeling last year, they use the hot tub almost every week. "After a week of work, we light it on Friday afternoon. Then we can sit in it for the weekend. Then in the winter we heat it up all the way and with those hot days we just leave it cold and use it as a nice cool down."

Lovely relaxing with a beautiful view

They live in a dike house with a garden that has a high and low part. On the high part of the garden they made a deck terrace. From that spot you have a beautiful view of the polder that borders the garden. "Right in the corner we built in the hot tub. We made a custom hole in the terrace so that it fits in exactly. Often we then slide in a little chair and sit down with our feet in the hot tub, which is really ideal!"

Sleek and country in the mix

Marianne describes her garden style as not quite sleek. Rather as a mix between sleek and country. "We have a few tight elements like black tongue-and-groove fencing and the decking is pretty tight. But in terms of planting in the garden, it's more rural and mixed in terms of high and low. We use purple tones. "She gets inspiration for the garden and, for example, the accessories to style the garden with from Pinterest and Instagram.

Ultimate moments of relaxation

When the lockdown went into effect, in the evening in Pijnacker, as in the rest of the Netherlands, the streets were quiet and there were no traffic noises. "It was super quiet and relaxed and that was really lovely in the hot tub. We also have a bubble system in it, but when we really want a quiet evening we leave it off. Then it's so relaxing"

Whether the bubbles are on or off also depends a bit on the company Marianne is in the hot tub with. "If I'm in it with my sister the bubbles are often turned on. Then we drink a glass and put on some nice music." In the summer, she also sometimes lies in the hot tub alone. Deliciously with a book in a swimming basket in the cool water. "That's really vacation."

Marianne's favorite moment

When asked what then is her most favorite moment, surely it is with Mike as a real relaxation after a busy week of work. "Then it's wonderful when the hot tub is nice and warm. In winter it's really magical; then it's dark, the garden lights are on and the steam is coming off the tub. We also use aromas then; for example, the Pine Forest aroma, just like being in a big spa. You can smell the wood scent of the stove anyway and then also the Pinewood scent in addition, which is really wonderful. Then for atmosphere we light some torches and a big outdoor candle."

With a time machine, they would do this differently

The hot tub has been in Marianne's yard for a little over a year now. If they could go back in time, what would they do differently? "We didn't choose to put a filtration system on it when we bought it. But if we were to buy a hot tub again, we would include it. Now we have a separate filter pump hanging in it, but that's quite a hassle. So I would definitely recommend others to get a filter system with it right away."
