Enjoying the Ducktub Ovalti

The #withwelvaere customer stories give you a peek into the wellness paradises of Welvaere's customers. This time I spoke with Yves from Belgium who has had the two-person Ducktub Ovalti since the beginning of 2021. Yves talks about his experiences with the hot tub, his garden and his favorite moments in the hot tub.

Delicious enjoyment in the Ducktub Ovalti

Yves chose the Ducktub Ovalti. The smallest hot tub in our range, perfect for one or two people. Yves: "The hot tub is usually for me alone. My girlfriend suffers from migraines. The heat combined with the wind can trigger migraines. The hot tub is under a canopy, but to get rid of the condensation there is space between the slats. And in the summer it is nice, because then a breeze comes in between.

After an online search, traveled to Welvaere

The idea to purchase a hot tub started with Yves two years ago. His girlfriend had a Jacuzzi at her house, but he couldn't sit comfortably in it because of his back problems. "I can't stand the jets* very well. I have a bad back and the jets actually make my back muscles hurt even more. So the massage jets have the opposite effect on me, unfortunately. Then I started looking further. I was really captivated by Scandinavian hot tubs. After searching online, I ended up at Welvaere."

Nijkerk is not around the corner for Yves. "I then visited the showroom, which is a 3-hour drive from my home. I then made a small trip of it with a hotel stay. I do this a few times a year and was nice to combine now. I was surprised for a moment that all the products fit in the showroom, but I was able to get a good look at the hot tubs. When I go somewhere, I always think about what I want in advance. And then I go see it in real life to see if the product I have in mind is really the best, or if there is something even better. I stuck with my first choice!"

*Jets are massage jets you see in Jacuzzis, but you can also add them to a Ducktub hot tub. The water jets give your back a massage.

Relax in the hot tub 7 days a week

How often Yves gets in the hot tub depends on which week you ask. "I work in a shift system, where I work 7 days one week and then have 7 days off. During the week I'm off then, I go in the hot tub almost every day. Usually I go in at the end of the afternoon. For my back, it is ideal to take a hot bath regularly, especially in the winter. Then I get in the hot tub and watch a series or read a book. When I used to take a bath, it would start to cool down after half an hour. Now with the hot tub, fortunately, I no longer have that problem. It's easy, you can sit in it for hours and you're sitting outside in the fresh air."

From his living room, Yves has a nice view of the hot tub and can easily see if the stove is still burning or if another cube needs to be added when the water is heating up. Ideal!

Weather or no weather, always in the hot tub

The hot tub is under a beautiful canopy. "I wanted to be able to use the hot tub every day of the year, so even in snow or rain. My first option was to hang a canvas over it, but apparently this cannot withstand snow. Then I ended up with a company that makes canopies in different shapes, sizes and colors from the material polycarbonate. This works well in any weather condition. It doesn't let rain or snow through, and the roof is matte, so even when the sun shines brightly in the summer, it doesn't get bloody hot under the canopy."

The hot tub a few steps from home

Yves describes his garden style as "on the modern side. "The pond, my vegetable garden and a greenhouse are laid out in a modern style. Where the hot tub is now, there used to be an herb garden. I wanted the hot tub a little close to the back door so that in the winter, when it's very cold, I don't have to walk so far. Very convenient it is now."

This season will again be full of enjoyment

The favorite season to go in the hot tub for Yves is winter. "When it's freezing outside and the water in the hot tub is heated to 39 degrees, I find it blissful. The steam coming off the hot tub then is wonderful and often has a nice scent to it. I use the aromas pine scent or mint. Usually I then have my e-reader with me, the radio is on and I have an appetizer or a can of soda handy."

"When my daughter comes with her boyfriend, we put on the barbecue if the weather is nice and they go in the hot tub. I'm very easy about that, I can get in often enough. This hot tub is obviously not made for large groups, just the two of us fits perfectly."

A tip from Yves: a digital thermometer

"I always found it very annoying when the hot tub was heating up, I had to partially remove the cover to see how hot the water is. So I made a digital thermometer on it, with a receiver on the wall. This is very convenient. The thermometer is then in the water and it sends the temperature to the receiver on the wall. There I can see the temperature of the water and the temperature of the environment. A tip for others with a hot tub."
