This is how Carolien Spoor and family enjoy their Ducktub Bjorn

A lovely garden to enjoy in a hot tub (with a view!)

Carolien and Jon have a garden with a beautiful view of the water. "It's such a nice place, we immediately felt that there had to be something there where you can chill out. My dream was always to have wellness in my garden. When we started remodeling, we actually spent all our money on the house and the inside first. Then we really started saving up to realize that wellness, with a hot tub."

"We then started Googling and pretty quickly came across Welvaere. I really liked a wood stove and the design appealed to me right away. As if Jon had built it himself, we found that very charming."

Enjoyed beyond expectations many times in the new Ducktub

Carolien: "We like the hot tub incredibly well. When we got it early last year, we used it a lot during the winter days. In the beginning it takes some time to figure out how much wood you need to heat it up. But by now we are so good at that, you know exactly how many hours you need to throw some wood on it beforehand to have it nice and warm."

"I also used the hot tub a lot more than I expected. Many people at the time said, you don't use a hot tub like that very quickly, but we really used it a lot. Even in the summer time, then it was a perfect little pool for the kids."

Play, relax and catch up in the warm or cool water

"We still use it often now, in different compositions. We regularly sit in it cozily with the whole family. By now Otis can swim pretty well and Elias always has straps on, so the two of them can also go in it and I just sit there comfortably. I was excited about that at first, but now it's a real treat. The neighborhood kids really like it too, regularly the hot tub is full of kids playing around."

"Jon and I also sometimes go in there as a couple with a nice glass of wine. But we also definitely go in there with friends. There are now friends who come over for dinner and then bring their bathing suits so they can chill in the hot tub afterwards."

Warm up on cold days

You can enjoy the hot tub at any time, of course, but everyone has a favorite moment. "My favorite moment in the hot tub is still during the cold winter months. That you go into the warm hot tub at night and you see the cozy lights on. Then it's freezing cold, but you can enjoy being warm in the garden. I find that an ultimate feeling of happiness. " 

Really relax and then sleep wonderfully

As an actress and co-founder of several companies, you can obviously use some relaxation in your free time. That's all right with the hot tub, says Carolien. "It makes you super rosy and relaxed anyway, so you can go to bed afterwards. We usually go in at the end of the day, so you can relax and go to sleep afterwards. But in summer time, it works the other way around. Then it's nice and cooling and you sit in it for a while and then you can get back into the sun again."

A few essentials for the hot tub

"When we go in as a couple or with friends we like to take a nice wine with us. For the kids, goggles are a must when they go into the hot tub. Also, the rubber duck with the thermometer is really nice, so you can keep an eye on the temperature. It can get too hot very quickly, in which case you really need to wait a while for it to cool down. Other than that, I prefer to keep the hot tub as clean as possible."

Tips from Carolien

"So it's good to remember that the hot tub is not just nice for cold weather to warm up, but is actually something you can use year-round. In the summer, then, you actually have a kind of mini-pool."

"Also good to know is that the hot tub is very easy to maintain. We have a filter system (which I really recommend) so I drain it once in a while and then clean the tub with a cloth. Emptying and filling is very easy with your garden hose."
