Buying a hot tub

There are a number of different hot tub suppliers in the Netherlands and the rest of Europe. Some offer handmade hot tubs, some standard models that they import from Scandinavia for example, one sells only wooden models, another only fiberglass reinforced and yet another both. All these different elements sometimes make it difficult to choose.

So think carefully beforehand about exactly what you want, ask for advice from different suppliers and sit down in that hot tub before you buy it. After all, you will need to enjoy it for a number of years to come!

Custom or standard?

Some are satisfied with a standard model, delivered quickly and requiring little thought. The other wants something more unique, made to his/her own wishes and expects good advice. There are hot tubs for both options and one is not better than the other. See what you need.

The right advice

The right advice really involves thinking with you. The advisor will try to find out what you need and what makes you happy. A good advisor also knows the products from front to back and knows what he/she is talking about. As a result, a good match can be found between you and the product. So make sure that someone doesn't try to talk you into something, but engages with you, answers all your questions and gives clear information.

Testing

Want to make sure your future hot tub is comfortable? Then be sure to ask if you can test it! This can of course be done without water, just by sitting in the tub. But often it is also possible, by appointment, to test the hot tub with water. That way you can be absolutely sure.

Delivery & Service

Always ask about delivery, whether it is included in the price and what happens if something doesn't work quite right. That way you avoid any inconveniences afterwards.

Choosing the right hot tub

When buying a hot tub, the first thing to consider is what your specific needs are. Do you have a family with children and do you all want to be in it at the same time? Or is the hot tub meant for cozy evenings just the two of you?

Maybe you have a mega group of friends and you will host a hot tub party every weekend. Or is the hot tub primarily intended for a nice fire and to enjoy the silence? By thinking beforehand about how and what you want to use the hot tub for, you can ultimately buy the hot tub that best suits your needs.

Hot tub size

There are different types and sizes. So it's important to consider in advance what you're going to use the hot tub for, but also to see what size will fit in your garden. Welvaere has a cozy hot tub starting at 2 people, but also a mega hot tub that fits as many as 10 people (and believe me, you can secretly fit 14 people in there with a little pushing). And then you have all the sizes in between.

Hot tub prices

Whatever hot tub you buy, it's still an investment (small and otherwise). You usually hope to enjoy an investment for a long time, and with a good hot tub you certainly are! So when buying a hot tub, you will have to look at how much budget you have. At Welvaere , the difference in price is mainly in the size, extra options and heater type. Whatever you choose, you will at least enjoy the warm water and the crackling wood. So choose something that makes you happy and is nice for your wallet!

Other points to watch out for

Material

When buying a hot tub, you have to choose what material you want your hot tub to be made of. The most common hot tubs are the wooden hot tub and the fiberglass reinforced hot tub. At Welvaere , we choose the latter because it requires less maintenance, is less likely to leak and lasts much longer than the wooden hot tub.

Welvaere places standard around all hot tubs strong thermo wood. This wood requires little maintenance and has a lifespan of 15 to 25 years!

Stove

For the hot tub, you have external, internal and integrated heaters. Among other things, the quality of the heater is responsible for the heating time of the water. So if you don't want to spend hours stoking, it is important to read up on stove use and stove type. In fact, a good stove can get most hot tubs warm in as little as 2 hours!

Accessories

Then you can still choose different accessories. The prices and range of accessories varies by provider. By accessories, you can think of an insulation lid and a drink shelf, as well as a filter system to keep your water longer. For true wellness enthusiasts, there are also options for jets, bubbles and LED lighting.
