The difference between plastic hot tubs versus wooden hot tubs

For the real authentic hot tub feeling, you probably think of a wooden hot tub. Relax and enjoy the warm water and a wood-burning stove. However, in addition to the wooden hot tub, there is also a synthetic hot tub, which has the look and feel of the traditional wooden hot tub but with a plastic liner.

Such a hot tub with plastic tub requires a lot less maintenance than a wooden one, in addition, there are other points to consider.

Wooden hot tub

A wooden hot tub needs to be maintained properly. This is because a tub made entirely of wood is 100% a natural product and it will work. When the hot tub is not filled, the wood will dry out. This causes the wood around the tub to shrink, which in turn can cause leaks.

If you want to use your wooden hot tub for a long time, it is important to maintain the wood properly then. With humid weather conditions, it has proven difficult to properly maintain the hot tub.

The large grooves in the wood also make the hot tub difficult to clean. Dirt soaks into the wood and gets between the seams. Often, a wooden hot tub is in use for a maximum of a few years and needs to be replaced.

Plastic hot tub

Compared to a wooden hot tub, a plastic hot tub has a number of user-friendly advantages. By using a tub around the wood, this hot tub is 100% waterproof despite various weather conditions. The Plastic hot tub can therefore perfectly stand for a longer period without water.

Because there is a tub in the hot tub, it is also easy to keep clean. In fact, the plastic hot tub can be cleaned by using soapy water and wiping down the tub. This takes much less time than with a wooden hot tub.

Like the wooden hot tub, a plastic hot tub does require maintenance. Often the tub is finished with wood on the outside to ensure that the hot tub still gives the authentic feel. Like the wooden hot tub, this is a natural product that requires maintenance.

What should I choose?

The choice of a wooden hot tub or a plastic hot tub is entirely up to you. Both have advantages and disadvantages. For example, a wooden hot tub really gives the authentic Scandinavian hot tub feel but does have the potential for a lot of leakage. A plastic hot tub looks more modern, is easy to clean, but is not 100% maintenance-free.
