Easy entry and exit
Earlier this year, Martine and Peter began their search for a hot tub and ended up at Welvaere. Martine: "We first wanted a jacuzzi, but last year I had an accident and found out that I can't get out of a jacuzzi properly. So then we went for a hot tub, because you can just stand in it and get out via the bench. Especially with the little stairs and the banister, that's ideal.
Martine and Peter chose the two-person Ducktub Ovalti. Martine: "When we started looking on the Internet, we saw this hot tub at Welvaere . It looked very nice and of course the eye wants something. So we went to look at the Experience Center in Nijkerk. We had an appointment with Kevin and bought it right away."
More than enough space
There is also room for Martine's grandchildren in the hot tub. "We have three grandchildren and they often want to get in there, too. And that fits just fine. We can even easily fit two adults and two children in it, provided they are not too big, of course. The oldest is 9, so right now it's still fine. And if their parents come along and they want to get in, we don't go in one time. That goes totally fine."
Daily enjoyment in the hot tub
The hot tub has been in Martine and Peter's garden since last June. Except for two days, they have still lit the hot tub every day. "So lovely. We also chose the bubbles. When we get out of work we go in and enjoy it. I cook in my bikini and bathrobe these days! So I can get right back in after dinner. You just always feel like you're on vacation when you get home. That's kind of nice."
England and Bali meet in the garden
Martine's hot tub is not directly in the backyard, but in a nice spot next to the shed in the side yard. There it is out of the wind; in the sun in the morning and in the shade in the afternoon. And very sheltered, because the spot is not easily seen from the street.
Martine's garden style is a mix between influences from different countries. The backyard is a kind of English country house garden, but a little smaller. The side garden they made in Bali / Ibiza style. "So we actually have two different types of styles of gardens. That's kind of funny, because people don't expect that either. They first come into the backyard and then they go around the corner and they're always surprised."
The hot tub sits on gray tiles, and around it they laid white gravel and beautiful tropical plantings. "We deliberately did that white gravel, which is handy for letting the water run off. It sinks nicely through the gravel now. We also made a big lounge bench out of pallets. If there are several of us and we can't all get into the hot tub, you can still chat with each other. It's a lovely place now." Martine gets her inspiration for decorating her gardens from Pinterest and Instagram.
Martine's ultimate moment of relaxation
In the hot tub, Martine and Peter unwind after a long day of work. They usually put on some music and take some nice drinks with them. "I really like it at night, because then the lights in the garden come on too. We first wanted to put the hot tub in the woodshed, but then of course you have no view. Now the two of us can enjoy watching the stars. We also can't wait until winter and there's a pack of snow, that seems great too! But first enjoy the summer for a while."
Martine doesn't have just one favorite moment. "I love it just the two of us, but also when the grandchildren are there it's very cozy."
"I would recommend installing a filtration system to anyone"
The hot tub has not been in Martine and Peter's garden for very long, but I was curious if there was anything they missed or would like to see changed. "We have one regret; that we didn't put a filter system on it right away. I would tip everyone to get a filter box right away. Then of course you do much longer with your water. That saves time. It's not about cleaning, because that's easy. Just run a cloth through it and you're done. But draining and filling every time does take a lot of water too."
