One-touch enjoyment in the Ducktub

While wood-fired, electric and even hybrid hot tubs are well known by now, many people will not know that a Ducktub with a biofuel stove is also a possibility. Bibi has one and had the scoop: she was Welvaere's first customer with the Rexener biodiesel stove. And she is a fan!

We talked to Bibi about her choice, her favorite moments and how she makes sure the hot tub will last for years! (Wondering exactly how a biodiesel stove works? Watch the video here.)

From electric to biofuel

"I had been interested in a hot tub for a while. I then made an appointment to come by the showroom and look at an all-electric hot tub. After all, I don't like lighting fires; barbecuing, for example, is not my thing either. But before the appointment was set, the price of energy skyrocketed. Then I called and they told me that Welvaere had something new: the biofuel stove. I immediately thought, this is really for me."

Bibi left her appointment, stopped by the Experience Center in Nijkerk and became the first customer to buy a hot tub with biodiesel heater. "I was helped super well by different employees. There were some dings that required me to get a new tank, but this was all taken care of very well and quickly."

Thought out to perfection

"I have two terraces in the garden, upstairs and down by the water. The hot tub is upstairs. I look out onto it from the living room. In advance I had already figured out exactly how I wanted it to look, so that it would also look nice in the garden. Because I have 60 x 60 cm tiles, I was able to calculate exactly what would go where. The hot tub with the diameter of 1.75 m, the filter box, steps, etcetera."

"Around the hot tub I placed plant pots, which grew hysterically large, but that way I have nice privacy in the hot tub. It has become a beautiful place. A hot tub is really an asset to your garden."

Provide delicious hot water at the touch of a button

"It's really easy to heat the water with the Rexener. You put the lid up, press the power button and it tells you how hot the water needs to be. It's still at 33 degrees right now and I went in it 1.5 weeks ago. It sits here in the sun a lot, but also retains a lot of heat because of the insulation and cover."

"I always set it to 39 degrees and then it's up to temperature within half an hour. Then I turn it off when I go in, because I like it when it cools down a little when you're in it. But if I do want it warmer, I can access it exactly without having to get out. "

Totally relaxed

"I really bought the hot tub for relaxation. When I had the bathroom remodeled two years back, I didn't opt for a tub, but I do like to relax in a tub. I am very much into cleaning and of course the bathroom has to be completely dry every time. With the hot tub, it's a wipe along the rim and the cover can go back on."

"In the winter months, I went in there 4-5 times a week. Really wonderful. When my little son - who is 5 and also loves it - was in bed I would put it on and relax in it. Right now it's a little less, because I'm also with my girlfriend a lot, but I still go in it 1-2 times a week. I also like it best when it's cold outside."

A moment of nothingness

Bibi sometimes goes into the hot tub with her infant son, girlfriend or friends, but most of the time she just enjoys being alone. "That's my favorite time, too. I go in for about 20 minutes in the evening before I go to bed. That way I'm completely relaxed when I go to sleep."

"When I'm alone, I don't need anything besides. No music, bubbles and no phone. I'm already constantly on and off, so when I'm in the hot tub then, I close my eyes and there's nothing at all for a while. When I do go in there with others, we do bring drinks and sometimes I turn on the bubbles. "

Economical enjoyment

"Because I use the hot tub often, it also heats up faster. I think in all that time I've only once had to wait an hour before I could get in. I always have two 20-liter jerry cans in the shed and have used about 60 liters in the seven months I've had the hot tub. If you do the math, that's about €2 every time I go in. The filtration system does run 24/7, but I now have solar panels and with these I can completely absorb this."

That will be years of enjoyment

Bibi's hot tub is sure to last many years. "I'm really into maintenance: I put it in tar oil right away, I check the Ph level regularly, I make sure I have enough chlorine and I clean the cover every day with a cloth. I want it to stay nice and good for as long as possible, of course."

"After 4 months I changed the water for the first time, but actually this was not even necessary. I do a backwash on the filter system every 3-4 weeks (I faithfully set a reminder for this in my calendar) and the values were still good, even after such a long time."

Tip from Bibi

You've probably gathered by now that Bibi is a fan of her biodiesel hot tub. "Anyone who likes convenience, I would say choose a biodiesel hot tub. Also, I would always choose a filter pump*. The delivery people told me that there are also people who don't, where the water just looks green. That's a real shame.

Another tip from Bibi is: read up on things. "I really like to keep things well maintained. This is something you have to read up on: how to check the water with test strips, how to add chlorine afterwards, etc. Once you know it, it's very easy all together."
