A peek into Michael's wellness paradise

The #withwelvaere client stories give you a peek into the wellness paradises of Welvaere's clients. This time I spoke with Michael van Delden from Zetten. He lives there with his son and since May 2020 they have a hot tub in the garden. Michael talks about the spot where the hot tub is, his experience and favorite moments in the hot tub.

Model: Ducktub Basic*

Since when: July 2020

Lives in: Zetten

Together with: his son

Michael actually always wanted to buy a hot tub. When last year came corona and all measures, he thought it was a good time to go for it. "I went to the showroom in Nijkerk at the time to look at the hot tub and then bought one!"

Once a month for a few days in the hot tub

Michael and his son use the hot tub on average once a month, a few days at a time. "We've used it about 12 times since last July. Once I fill the hot tub, we usually use the tub for a week at a time. I then go in it about 5 days in that week and then throw the water out again. I do have a tip for others: what I find works well is to put a submersible pump in the water when the water is heating up. This circulates it better and it warms up faster."

Perfect spot in the garden for the hot tub

In Michael's yard, there was a perfect spot for the hot tub. When he bought this house, he knew immediately that he had to put something there that would allow him to be there often. In fact, in his previous garden he also had such a nice piece, but he rarely sat there. "At my previous house we had a big garden and in the back corner we had a nice empty space, surrounded by a pergola and plants. So then we thought, that's nice; we'll sit there often. It was a nice sheltered spot, so perfect. But actually we never sat there. There was no attraction."

"Now I have another house with also in the back of the garden a nice spot with white gravel. I thought that's very nice again, but the same thing is probably going to happen to that. So I wanted to put something there that has an attraction, so that I do come there more often. And I did that with the hot tub. I also decorated it nicely around that, with running boards, a shelf that holds the radio and a wood shed that holds the wood for the hot tub."

"We don't have a specific style in the garden, it's a little bit of everything. It's very busy, with lots of different plants. I bought the house with the garden the way it looks now. Other than that, I haven't changed it much."

Still exciting for a while how the hot tub would reach its sweet spot

Checking beforehand whether the hot tub can go in the garden is very important. In Michael's case, that took some searching when it was brought. "The spot where the hot tub is now is just gold. The way to it was a little less easy, because it couldn't go through the gate or through the neighbor's yard. It had to go over the garage roof. That couldn't be done with a crane due to obstacles, so I had to lift it over the roof with 8 of my son's friends using scaffolding. That was exciting, but fun afterwards. And of course, as a thank you, those boys got to sit in the hot tub a few times."

Ultimate relaxation with a drink, music and the smell of menthol

Of course, an evening in the hot tub can't go without a nice drink. To that end, Michael added something handy to his hot tub. "I screwed a tray on the outside on two sides where you can put glasses. I usually sit in it with more people, so that's handy. There's a radio for music. And to top it off, I throw in menthol granules. Once in a while, cat Jan Willem comes to cozy up on the edge of the hot tub."

Evenings relaxing with friends

Michael usually goes in there with friends or with his son and his friends. "That varies a lot. Usually there are about four of us in there. It's very relaxing. During the day you're doing business and then in the evening it's really just relaxing. My son often goes in alone with a group of friends. Then I light it for him and he takes over."

Some prefer a bath you can just sit in, so hot. The other prefers cooler water to bathe in. Michael belongs to the latter group. "My tip is to heat up the hot tub to about 34 degrees. Then you can sit in it wonderfully. I find that if you heat up the water to 35/36 degrees it's just too hot and it makes you very lazy. 1 degree makes so much difference."
