This is how to enjoy your hot tub in the fall!

Autumn. Some hate the fact that the days are getting shorter, the leaves are falling from the trees and there is more rain than sunshine. While the other is very happy about it and feels like snuggling under a blanket at night and taking walks through the forest in autumn colors. In any case, just because summer is over doesn't mean you can't enjoy the hot tub.

Tip 1: Enjoy the rain on the roof or canvas

If you have your hot tub under a canopy, you can enjoy the hot tub in whatever the weather. You won't get wet from rain or maybe even sleet. How cozy is that? Together in the hot tub, listening to the raindrops falling on the roof. Don't have a canopy or pergola for the hot tub? You can also stretch a special outdoor canvas over it. This will keep you dry and you can enjoy the ticking of the rain even more! With a wood-burning stove, make sure the stove tube is not under the cloth.

Tip 2: Make it cozy with candles, lights or torches

The fact that it is dark earlier in the evening also means that you can make it cozy earlier with candles, lights and torches. Flickering lights come in lots of different shapes and sizes and create a warm, cozy atmosphere. For example, do you have a side table that you can put some candles on? A nice basting wire with lights that you can string above the hot tub? Or can you place some torches along the route to the hot tub? That makes for a beautiful view from the hot tub!

Tip 3: Organize an autumn barbecue & hot tub night

Although the fall months are also usually the wettest months of the year, of course it doesn't rain every day and evening. Is there a dry day on the schedule? Invite your friends or family over for a cozy fall barbecue and hot tub night. Create a cozy atmosphere (tip #2) and go for delicious dishes appropriate to the season. For example, how about roasted chestnuts from the barbecue?

How to make this? It's very simple:

  • Look for sweet chestnuts (or buy them at the store).
  • At home, remove the prickly skin and wash them well.
  • Discard the bad chestnuts that are hollow or have holes. You can't roast these.
  • Place them flat side down on the cutting board and cut a cross in the top with a knife. If you don't, they will fly around later.
  • Place them on an aluminum tray on the hot coals of the barbecue.
  • Within a few minutes, they will all be open and then leave them for another 15 to 20 minutes. If they begin to burn, remove them from the coals earlier.
  • When they are puffed, remove the hardened skin and you can enjoy eating the fruit!

After (and/or before and/or during) the barbecue, it's time to put on the bathing suits and have a nice chat in the hot tub. If that's not a nice prospect!

Tip #4: Gloomy because of the dark weather? Schedule an evening of me-time

An evening to yourself in the hot tub is always a good idea. But if you're feeling gloomy because of the turn-of-the-century weather, scheduling some me-time is totally recommended. Let the warm water embrace you in peace and get totally zen with yourself again! An extra autumn tip: take a nice warm drink with you, like a big cup of cinnamon tea or a delicious pumpkin spice latte. Enjoy!

Tip 5: Get Halloween to your backyard and host a spooky evening

In America, stores, homes and restaurants are already all about Halloween. A holiday that many people look forward to for a long time. In the Netherlands you see more and more Halloween parties here and there. And how fun is that! Turning your garden into a spooky place, with the steaming hot tub in the leading role.

Dressing up and painting yourself into a green monster and then getting into the hot tub is obviously not such a good idea. But there are plenty of other things you can do to make it totally Halloween. Think of the decor; of course it includes scary pumpkins with a candle or lamp and cobwebs. Snacks and snacks shaped like ghosts and spiders. Creepy sounds and tunes in the background. And who knows, maybe you have a scary story to tell while you're in the hot tub. You'll find more than enough inspiration for a cool Halloween night on Pinterest!
