The hot tub in use

Our hot tubs are made with materials that make them last for years. And of course, you want to use the hot tub for as long as possible.

The hot tub is ideal to use as a pool for the children, they will enjoy it with all certainty. As a location for a romantic date. To escape from a busy work week or just because it is so nice!

If you want to properly use and deploy the hot tub during such times, there are obviously a number of things you need to pay attention to. Consider the firing, cleaning, maintenance and filling of the hot tub.

This is how to use the hot tub

  • Fire only when full
  • As the perfect place for good conversation
  • To warm up in winter and cool down in summer

Fill & empty; easy peasy!

You can fill the hot tub by hanging the garden hose in the hot tub. A normal garden hose provides about 15 liters per minute at an average water pressure. Our Ducktubs are standard equipped with a Gardena coupling including a ball valve. The advantage of this is that you can easily empty the hot tub. You connect the garden hose and open the ball valve. If you have a wood-fired hot tub, you must also empty the stove when emptying the hot tub. You do this by opening or pulling out the stove plug on the stove.

The best temperature

When it's hot outside, it's nice to take a refreshing dip. The last thing you want is to step into a 40-degree hot tub. That's why the best hot tub temperature in the summer is about 37 degrees. In winter, it's best to heat the water of your hot tub or hot tub between 39 and 40 degrees. When the water is above 40 degrees, it can already cause minor burns.

Hot tub maintenance; really not difficult

After the hot summer, rainy fall, freezing winter and sunny spring, it is actually always a good time to service the hot tub. If you want to enjoy the hot tub for as long as possible, we recommend giving the hot tub a bigger service every change of season.

During such maintenance, it is useful to take care of the filter system. Clean the tub properly. Check the wood and varnish it if necessary and clean the stove properly. If you do it right, maintaining the hot tub really isn't much work. You just have to do it.

Burning without too much smoke and rapid combustion

Start firing only when the hot tub is filled, or when the water is about 10 cm below the rim. This is because if you don't do this, the heater will not be able to release its heat and will break down.

The best way to fire your stove is the Swiss way. The Swiss way provides the most efficient heat and burns the longest. To fire the hot tub, it is important that you use good firewood that is always raw. If you have an insulating cover, it is convenient to leave it on the hot tub. That way the water does not lose its heat right away.

pH and TA values of the hot tub water

The optimal effect of disinfectants - depends on the correct pH value; which in turn depends on the TA value. With the right TA value, the pH value can remain stable and with the right pH value, disinfectants can perform well. The pH value indicates the acidity of the water. Ideally, it should be between 7.2 and 7.6.

If the pH drops below this level, the added disinfectant is quickly consumed. If the pH value is too high, the effectiveness of the agent is significantly reduced and skin and eye irritations can occur. The TA value represents the total alkalinity (total amount of Alkaline substances) of the water and refers to the ability of the water to neutralize acids and stabilize the TA value. It is best if the TA value is between 80 and 120 ppm (milligrams per liter).
