Tips from a landscaper for a perfect wellness garden

With a hot tub or sauna, of course, you create a true wellness garden. In addition, according to garden designer Jan Temmermans of Temm & Garden, there are a number of other points you should take into account to make it the perfect relaxation spot. He tells you all about adding wellness to your garden.

Relax in peace and privacy

When you sit in the hot tub or sauna, it is of course nice to have a little privacy. There are several ways to ensure this: "With plants you can create a sheltered spot for your relaxation moments. It is good to look for plants and trees that stay green in winter. Bamboo and evergreen espalier trees are good choices.

The road to it

Another thing to keep in mind are the paths to the wellness. "It's not so nice to make a path of shells if you often walk on it barefoot. Gravel or shells can do, but then it's good to make step strips in them. Wood or stones are also a good option for a path toward your hot tub or sauna.

A garden hot tub, sauna or spa, how do you choose the best one for your garden?

You've made up your mind, you want to make your garden a place to really unwind. With a hot tub, sauna and spa, you can achieve this, but which is best for you? There are a few things you can look at that can make the choice easier.

  1. The first is of course an easy one, do you choose to relax in warm water (hot tub or spa) or in a heat room (sauna)?
  2. If you opt for a sauna; how much space do you have in the garden? Do you want to heat it with a wood stove or electric? Will you choose a panoramic window? And then whole or half? And do you choose other additional options? In a handy video, Chiel tells you more about this.
  3. If you opt for a hot tub, you can choose between a hot tub or spa. The main differences are how you choose to heat the water. With a hot tub, you can choose a wood-burning stove, electric, hybrid or biofuel. The spa is always electric and comes standard with many jets for wonderful massages. The shape is also different; a spa is square and hot tubs are round or oval (or 8-sided if you choose the Hjorn).
  4. If you go for a hot tub, you can put it together just the way you want it. We have Ducktubs in different shapes and sizes and also when it comes to extra options, you choose what you want and don't want in it. For example, do you want a bubble system, jets, filter system, etc.? In this video Bas tells you about 5 questions you can ask yourself when choosing a hot tub.
