Step-by-step spring cleaning of the hot tub

Of course you clean your hot tub regularly, but every once in a while it's good to give it a major cleaning. Fortunately, this is very simple.

  1. Drain the hot tub and clean the tub. This is easily done with soapy water and a cloth.
  2. Using the garden hose, spray any sand or mud from the wooden surround. You don't need to clean these with detergent.
  3. To avoid getting bacteria in the wood stove, it is good to regularly drain it as well. You do that by unscrewing stove plug. Then you can hose it down with the garden hose or pressure washer. On the inside of the stove, remove the ashes with an ash scoop and clean that too with the garden hose.

Spring sauna cleaning step-by-step plan

Even for the sauna, it is not difficult to perform a major cleaning. This will have your sauna ready for the season again in no time.

  1. When your sauna is outside in the garden, leaves and sand can get into it. You can easily get this out with a dustpan and brush or vacuum cleaner.
  2. For the benches and the wooden floor, we recommend using a special sauna cleaner, such as Sauna Clean. Don't have this? No problem! You can also just use clean, warm water. Just wipe a cloth over the benches, let it dry and it's clean!
  3. Are there stains in the sauna that you can't get out with water or detergent? Then you can always get them out by sanding the wood. However, it is important that you use fine sandpaper and always sand with the grain of the wood.
  4. Spray any sand or mud from the outside with the garden hose.
  5. Cleaning the stove is done by sweeping the ashes out of the stove with a dustpan and brush. A handy hack for the window pane is to use a tea bag. You can use a damp tea bag or kitchen roll dipped in a cup of strong tea to easily clean the window pane. You wipe the dirt right off the window pane. If this does not work, you can also clean the stove with some ash from the stove. This is because ash and charcoal have an enormous cleaning effect. Oil the wood for best results

Finishing Tar Oil provides excellent protection for the outside of the hot tub and sauna. The tar oil is absorbed into the wood. This inhibits the effect of rot and various fungi. Tar Oil gives the wood an attractive dark color and also acts as a water repellent.

When using this finishing tar, it is important that wood being treated is dry and dust-free. Before treating the wood for a second time with the oil, it is important to sand the wood lightly so that the oil can penetrate the wood better.

Ready for the outdoor living season

After that spring cleaning, the hot tub and sauna are ready again for the outdoor living season. The moments of being outside together, enjoying in the increasingly warm sunshine in the water or sauna. We are looking forward to it!
