The garden as an extension of the living room

Yes, summer has begun. As far as we are concerned, the time to get the garden ready and use it as living room 2.0. The place where you meet others, have fun and laugh. The place where you will spend time this summer. I like to tell you how to create a nice garden. The garden as an extension of your living room.

The garden as an extension of your living room

It's actually not that hard to see your garden as a second living room. With a few small or large adjustments, you can create that fine, cozy feeling that your living room has in the garden as well.

  • Provide a nice place to sit and eat
  • Make use of the same materials as in your home
  • Make it cozy
  • Create a place to truly unwind

Provide a nice place to sit and eat

The living room is where you like to snuggle up on the couch after a long day at work. Where you turn on the TV for the latest news, where you let your thoughts wander or have a nice conversation. Make sure you can do the same in your garden. Some create that feeling by setting up a nice lounge set. While the other enjoys a good place to eat. A large picnic table with a fine BBQ at the head, for example.

Use the same materials and colors in the home

For a true garden room, as we can best call the garden as an extension of the living room, it is nice that the two match. Do you have a wooden floor in the living room? Then put this in the extension "through" with a decking terrace in the garden. This way you really extend the living room.

Is your living room decorated mostly with light shades? Then use these colors in your garden as well. Think for example of light cushions on the sofa or chairs and a light rug on the table.

Make it cozy

Making it cozy may sound logical but it is not. In fact, we can make the garden as cozy as the living room. And you can do that with the right decoration items. Think of nice mirrors to hang on the fence or wall or a nice outdoor rug to go with your garden furniture.

Put the plants in the most beautiful flower pots you can find. Working in height always makes it extra cozy, too. Hang plants from a pergola or use a lamprey with cozy lights. However, it is important to always keep it in a certain atmosphere. Make sure everything fits together. Because, that also creates peace and unity.

Create a place to truly unwind

Did you already know that a green environment makes for more relaxation? Anette Lavrijsen indicates that people who spend a lot of time in green surroundings often feel happier and more relaxed than people who live in a big city and have to look for that green environment. So make sure you have plenty of greenery in your garden. It really doesn't have to be a jungle, but a few trees and plants will ensure that you, and insects and birds, have a nice place to retreat to. And gardening also helps clear your head. Only pluses right?

Want to go all out? Then place a hot tub or sauna in your garden. This is the place where you can truly forget everything around you for a while, let your muscles completely relax and recharge for the next day. But also the place for a nice party, a romantic evening or just to catch up. Does this then fit into the garden as an extension of the living room? After all, you don't put a hot tub or sauna inside, do you? No, certainly not. But relaxing, having a drink or a romantic evening. You do that in your living room, don't you?

Look at the moments you want to experience

For the ideal garden as an extension of the living room or garden room, don't look at the stuff you need for it. But look at the moments you want to experience there and arrange it according to those desires. Put the moment first; the filling in will come naturally. And does a hot tub or sauna happen to fit one of those moments? Then we will be happy to help you with that! Five days a week you are welcome in our large Experience Center in Nijkerk where your garden moments for this summer will really come to life!
