We spoke to Tom Deduytschaever, owner of the chalet, about his choice of a Ducktub, how his guests enjoy it and what it means for his bookings.
Nice and natural: a wood-fired hot tub
The choice for the vacation home was the Ducktub Bjorn with a wood-fired stove. Tom enthusiastically shares, "We chose a wood-fired hot tub from Welvaere, which fits perfectly with the authentic atmosphere of our chalet. With room for five to six people, it is the ultimate place for our guests to relax and take in the natural surroundings." The hot tub is equipped with lighting and jets, providing just a little extra luxury.
"The process of stoking with wood adds to the overall experience. Our guests, both young and old, enjoy lighting and maintaining the fire," Tom says. So in addition to relaxing together in the hot tub, warming the water already provides quality time with family and friends. "It's fascinating to see how this activity brings people together," he says.
Clear explanations
When you arrive at Chalet Chalazy , Tom is ready to explain the various facilities of the vacation rental. "I then tell about the surroundings, the cottage and about the use of the hot tub and sauna, which are also there. I have also made a manual so that it can always be grabbed during the stay. I find that my guests really appreciate this approach."
Wellness attracts
Whereas just after the opening many Belgians came to enjoy the place, Tom sees that many Dutch people are now booking stays as well. "Most of the guests have been families so far, with one or two young children. Sometimes it's two families who then go away for a weekend together. You notice that guests are drawn to wellness."
Good choice for business
"The addition of the hot tub has significantly increased our bookings," Tom says. Even during the off-season, guests continue to come, in part because of the wellness offerings. This leads to higher occupancy rates and therefore a more stable income throughout the year. "The hot tub has really helped us stand out from other vacation rentals in the area," he adds. "People are willing to pay more for this unique feature,"
This is what guests of Chalet Chalazy say:
- "What bliss, the cottage, the surroundings. Not beating out the hot tub, chilling in the sauna. The kids, us and the dog loved it. The cottage was everything we could wish for, secretly we do not want to go home ;-)"
- "A fantastic girlfriends weekend in a lovely house. As icing on the cake another beautiful weather which allowed us to spend our first summer weekend here in the beautiful house! The house includes a lovely sauna and hot tub and we had a great time barbecuing!"
- "After a warm welcome we spent 4 wonderful days here. What an atmospheric house. We had beautiful walks in the neighborhood, kayaking and enjoyed hot tub, sauna and firepit."
A tip from Tom
"If I had to give other vacation home owners a tip, it would be to really add wellness. You see in the area that bookings of cottages without wellness are declining at this time of year, whereas with us it keeps going. It adds a little something extra and you get added value over others." Tom also finds that his personalized approach works. "I would definitely recommend, if you have that opportunity, to give your guests a personal welcome to also explain things directly. It makes for higher customer satisfaction and you find that it also makes for fewer questions during the stay."
