Watch our video on water maintenance
Is your Ducktub's water dirty or does it stay dirty despite having been refreshed? We have uploaded a video on our YouTube Channel about the steps you can take to get your water fresh again.
ViewLogically, if you use your hot tub a lot, the water will eventually get a little dirtier. This is due to dirt that gets into the water from outside, but you also bring dirt into the water yourself. There are several ways to make sure you don't have to change the water after every use. In this blog, you'll learn how to make sure the water in your hot tub stays clean this summer.
The easiest way to keep the hot tub water clean is with a filtration system. This filters the coarse dirt out of the water, and the UV filter kills 90% of the bacteria. You also need to change the water much less often because of this. After filling the hot tub, you can use it for about 3 months before the water needs changing again. Without a filter system, that's about a week. If you don't yet own a hot tub, but would like to purchase one, we always recommend a filter system.
Lubricating yourself is obviously extremely important in the summer. Getting burned is the last thing you want. Putting it on just before getting into the hot tub is not such a good idea. Sounds logical, but it's good to let it soak in for a while before getting into the water. Like body lotion and gel in your hair, sunscreen gets into the water and that creates a greasy film on the water.
In the summer it is of course great to walk around mostly barefoot, but when you step into the hot tub afterwards you naturally take some sand and dirt with you. You can easily prevent this by placing a footbath or bucket near the steps of the hot tub where you can step in first. This way, you will enter the hot tub with fresh and clean feet.
The best and cleanest thing to do before getting into the hot tub is to take a shower. Do you have an outdoor shower? Then of course it is great to stand under it for a while. But a garden hose will do just as well. You will be cooled down immediately when it is hot in the evening. Be careful though if the garden hose has been lying in the sun all day, the water coming out will be very hot at first.
Among other things, the cover keeps dirt from getting into the hot tub from the outside. You can't prevent that when you're in the hot tub, of course, but when you're not using it you can by putting the cover on top. That saves a lot of leaves, lint and insects in the water. In addition, the water stays nice and warm with the cover on, and if you have used the hot tub in the evening, you can enjoy the warm water again in the morning with just a few degrees of heating.
