#withwelvaere gives you a peek into the wellness paradises of Welvaere's clients. This time I spoke with Lotte from Helmond. She lives there with her husband and since November 2020 they have the Ducktub Bjorn in the garden. From plunge pool to hot tub

Lotte and Werner had a beautiful new-build townhouse built together. When you build a completely new house, the possibilities for the house and garden are wide open. Corona made them realize last year that if you have nowhere to go, it's really nice if you can get that bit of relaxation at home.

Lotte: "We don't have a very large garden, so a pool didn't fit. Then we thought of a plunge pool. It's not that expensive in itself, but you have to dig deep into your wallet to build one, so that didn't work out either. Then we discovered the hot tub. We regularly go away for weekends in the Netherlands, in a cottage in a bungalow park for example. Then one time we had a hot tub at a cottage. My husband liked the idea of heating it. That in winter you can turn on the heater yourself and use it to heat the water. And in the summer you can cool off in it just like a swimming pool."

So when they got home from their weekend trip, they made an appointment to check out the different hot tubs at the Experience Center in Nijkerk. "There was a very good Friday afternoon drink going on in the hot tub at that time, so that was a nice confirmation that it was a success. So we could see right away how it worked, we got an explanation and we were actually sold right away," says Lotte.

Ending the day in the hot tub

In the winter, Lotte and her husband loved sitting in the hot tub, especially when it snowed. "Then we sat in it about 1 or 2 nights a week. With the summer weather, we sit in it every day. When we are free, sunbathing in the garden and then cooling off in the hot tub. But also when we get out of work, when the evening sun is still shining in our garden, we end the day nicely in the garden. Lovely."

Neighbors on both sides; no problem with Swiss heating

Lotte and her husband's garden is 11 meters deep and the hot tub is just past the middle. A great spot because that way, when the sun is at its highest point (which is this time of year), it is in the sun all day.

They did fear at first that they would inconvenience the neighbors with the smoke. "We have neighbors on both sides. Especially when the stoking was not quite right, we were afraid that the smoke would bother the neighbors. But because of the videos about Swiss firing and the right wood, we are no longer bothered by it at all. Actually, no one notices anything about us firing it up."

Modern and industrial

They designed the garden all by themselves. Lotte found the question of what style of garden they went for quite a difficult one. "I think a combination between modern and industrial. For example, we have geoceramica in terms of tiles and we use a lot of steel. That does make it industrial. The wood of the hot tub matches it very nicely."

Ultimate relaxation: barbecuing and in the hot tub

The combination of a cozy bbq and the hot tub really gives relaxation, but an evening just the two of us is also wonderful; "Usually we go in as a couple. For us, the combination of barbecuing and the hot tub really gives relaxation. And not only in summer, in winter we often do a winter barbecue. And when we have friends over, especially in nice weather, they bring the swimsuits and jump in as well."

When Lotte and her husband spend an evening relaxing in the hot tub, they light the candles and torches, and at night the lights in the garden and under the canopy go on. "Together with the underwater lighting in the hot tub, this creates a very good atmosphere. For my own relaxation, I deliberately chose the bubble function. Then I can really relax a lot. And of course a drink is never wrong, that makes it complete."

Dreaming of an even more beautiful view

When asked if there is anything else Lotte misses or would like to do, her answer is: "Our dream is that our next house will be another newly built house, which we can then develop in a nice quiet spot in nature. Then we would really like a swimming pool and in the back of the garden the hot tub overlooking the meadows. So if you ask me what I still miss: it's the beautiful view from the hot tub. Then it seems completely finished to me."
