What is a hot tub?

Long ago, wooden bathtubs were made that were heated with a wood stove. The hot tub has a long history and comes from areas close to the North Pole such as Scandinavia. Scandinavia is rich in natural hot springs. Therefore, this is where the idea of the hot tub originated.

A warm bath

The name hot tub already says what the product literally means; a warm bath. Traditionally, the water in a hot tub is heated with a wood fire. Hot tubs used to be made only of wood. The only problem was that these wooden hot tubs were almost never leak-proof. Therefore, most hot tubs are now manufactured with an inner tub made of plastic and a wooden surround.

Sanne explains exactly what a hot tub from Welvaere is in this video. ⤵️

Today's hot tubs

  • High quality and leak-proof
  • Traditional wood-fired, electric or hybrid
  • Expandable with luxury options such as bubbles and jets

A Ducktub from Welvaere

Because we completely control the production of our hot tubs, we can make a Ducktub entirely to your specifications. The hot tub is made from several layers of fiberglass-reinforced plastic and protective coatings. Materials with which sailboats survive the biggest storms. In addition, of course we use FSC certified environmentally friendly wood. This way we keep nature in balance as well.

Hot tub heating

You can heat the water in the hot tub in several ways: wood-fired, electric or hybrid. If you choose traditional wood-fired, you have a choice of three different external wood-burning heaters. This is attached to the hot tub with wall grommets, hoses and hose clamps. This causes the water to enter the external stove in the dense space around the firing chamber. A fire is then stoked in the stove, warming the water naturally.

Very easy to use

Using a hot tub is very easy. With a wood-fired hot tub, it is important to fill the hot tub with water before you start firing. From the moment you start firing, the water in the hot tub reaches a comfortable temperature in an average of 2 hours. When the water is at temperature, you can take a seat in the hot tub and relax. This can be done any season, any time! The electric hot tub is just as easy to use. If you leave the hot tub on constantly, you can step into lovely warm water any time. The Balboa system you use to operate the electric hot tub is easy to use.
