Enjoying the Ducktub Hjorn in Spain

We already knew that our Ducktubs get beautiful destinations, but this spot is quite special. Chris and Wilco enjoy this wonderful view, and that in their Ducktub Hjorn under the Spanish sun. What more could you want! We spoke to Chris about their beautiful place, how they enjoy their hot tub and how they made sure it is on their balcony in Alicante.

Model: Electric Ducktub Hjorn

Private wellness spot with a view of the beach

Chris: "We live in Naaldwijk and also have an apartment near Alicante in Spain; our second home. Whereas in the Netherlands we have a smaller balcony, in Spain we have a balcony of about 130 m². When we came to live here, we were immediately like, there has to be something beautiful on the balcony. An acquaintance of ours also has a Ducktub and then the decision was actually quickly made."

A beautiful beach nearby and surely a swimming pool within walking distance, and yet chose a hot tub! Chris explains why they also chose a Ducktub: "We have an apartment on the third floor of the apartment complex. In Spain it is often the case that on the roof of such a complex there is a swimming pool for common use. That is an unheated pool and we also have an outdoor gym and a sauna with it. We actually also wanted to have our own wellness area. We then first put up an inflatable spa temporarily where the Ducktub is now, but then we soon knew, there has to be a real one there."

Electric Ducktub, perfect for the patio!

"My partner Wilco showed a hot tub from you guys a year ago, but I always thought this was only possible with wood stove. So I thought it wasn't for us. Later he told me that so you guys also have electric hot tubs, perfect for our balcony!"

"Wilco went to your showroom to see the hot tub in real life. Actually before that we already knew which model we wanted We first had the architect calculate whether the ground on the terrace could handle this weight, of course you have to take that into account. When we got the green light a week later, we set everything in motion. The delivery time was nice and quick, so we were able to enjoy it very soon."

From Nijkerk to Alicante

"We had the Ducktub delivered to our business, where we have a large hall. Upon delivery, we received a good explanation from the delivery man. From there we arranged our own transport to Spain. That all went very easily: two days later it was hoisted onto our balcony by the same company."

In 3.5 hours from the Netherlands to delicious Spain

"We live 20 minutes from the airport in Rotterdam and from Alicante airport it is 25 minutes to our apartment. So the journey is easy. About 3.5 hours we are then on the road. So we go there regularly to recharge!"

In summer and 'winter' enjoyment in the hot tub

"We use the Ducktub every day when we're in Spain. We also have an outdoor shower, so we just rinse off outside and then get right in. When it's high summer, we also use the hot tub as a pool to cool off. In the late season and in winter, when it's still at least 17 degrees here, we heat it up. In the morning you can then see the steam coming off it, lovely!"

Starting your day off right and enjoying the view with a drink in the evening

Chris and Wilco completed their Ducktub. They chose the filter system that keeps the water clean for up to 3 months, the jet system, bubbles and underwater lighting. "This model is also the perfect size for us, the height is right on the edge of the railing and the seat height just right. We look over the edge toward Alicante with the mountains and the lights."

" In the evening we then enjoy with a nice drink with it, a wine, beer or just a soda. I also love to read in the hot tub. If I'm up earlier in the morning I go in there with my little book. That's really an extra pampering moment."

The terrace becomes even more beautiful

"We bought the apartment a little over 2 years ago, just before corona. We are still working on the balcony. We have two sitting areas and we want to dress it all up with beautiful flower boxes with the Oleander. That is the perfect plant for here, you see it a lot in Spain, also in the roadsides. It stays nice and green all year round. And we want another big olive tree to finish it off."

Tip from Chris: remember the practicalities

"If I had to give a tip is that if you're remodeling your garden or patio and you want to make something beautiful out of it, you should also take a good look at the electrics and water drainage right away. We have very nice oblong tiles all over the balcony, which looks a little gray woody. In the middle we have a drainage system which drains the rain and also the water from the hot tub. When we drain the hot tub we can easily get rid of the water this way. These are things you don't immediately think of but make it very easy."
